The 2011 Milwaukee Film Festival is right around the corner, taking place September 22 – October 2, 2011 at four diverse venues, including the Landmark Oriental and Downer Theatres and Marcus North Shore and Ridge Cinemas. Milwaukee Film presents over 170 films, Take One: Milwaukee Children’s Film Festival; plus panels, discussions and parties!

Celebrate Opening Night with Milwaukee Film at Discovery World on September 22, from 8:30pm-1am. The Opening Night Party features DJ Rekha from New York City’s Basement Bhangra dance party, Sex & Cigarettes (a Serge Gainsbourg inspired band with members of Decibully, Juniper Tar, The Flips and Def Harmonic), a performance by Brewcity Bombshells Burlesque, music and deejays from 88.9 Radio Milwaukee and 91.7 WMSE, hors d’oeuvres compliments of Bartolotta Catering & Events at Pier Wisconsin and two free drinks courtesy of Bacardi and MillerCoors.

Milwaukee Film is as a nonprofit organization dedicated to hosting an incredibly diverse annual film festival that brings the best contemporary American and international cinema to the Milwaukee community. Since 2008, it has helped support and grow the local film industry year-round through its educational programs and community screenings.

Collaborative Cinema, a Milwaukee Film education program provides high school students the opportunity to receive firsthand experience in screenwriting and filmmaking from some of the best professional filmmakers in southeastern Wisconsin. The 2011 Collaborative Cinema film, Memento Mori, screens at the 2011 Milwaukee Film Festival as part of the Milwaukee Show. Learn more here.

Local filmmakers also receive support through workshops and the Cream City Cinema program, which showcases the best new work from local filmmakers and offers a cash prize to the jury winner along with equipment and services used for the production of their next film.
