What does your company do?

We started Alterra Coffee in 1993, roasting on the fifth floor of a warehouse in Walker’s Point. We just wanted to make a great cup of coffee and hoped if we did it right, others would want that same great experience. Since then, we have been working hard to constantly improve our craft and grow our business, never losing sight of that original goal – providing a remarkable experience to our customers.

What’s new for your company in 2014?

We launched Troubadour Bakery. Troubadour’s bread is a return to the “old-world ways” of baking: patiently made by hand using simple ingredients, natural leavening, and long fermentation for intensified flavors and keeping qualities. Breads are baked daily in Bay View in a custom stone hearth oven, which was shipped from Italy and assembled by two craftsmen on site.

Troubadour will offer a unique selection of breads in many different forms (Pan Loaves, Boules, Batards, Baguettes), using a variety of doughs including Sourdough, Multi Grain, Honey Whole Wheat, Sesame Semolina, Challah, and Ciabatta.

Come to Bay View and see the bread being baked daily. You can buy a loaf too, at our new Bread Counter!

Introducing Colectivo Gospel Brunch - a free live music series featuring traditionally inspired local gospel groups! Happening monthly in the Colectivo Prospect Back Room, this series highlights some of Milwaukee’s finest gospel talent.

Translator is an experience design studio based out of Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward. We are thinkers, connectors, and doers and we develop killer brand platforms and experiences. We’re also pretty handy with a Chemex.

What does your company do?

In 1966, Kathryn Burke, fondly known as “Murph”, had fresh degrees in dietetics, chemistry and home economics… and a passion to craft unique culinary creations from old irish family recipes.
One of Murph’s first recipes was a wonderful tasting ‘savory sauce’ that she gave to family and friends and sold at specialty
