Member Spotlight: Jewish Museum Milwaukee
Jewish Museum Milwaukee, which opened its doors in April 2008, tells the story of the Jewish people in southeastern Wisconsin and celebrates the continuum of Jewish heritage and culture, while teaching the importance of mutual tolerance and respect among people of all faiths and cultures. The Museum is located in the Helfaer Community Service Building at 1360 Prospect Avenue, designed by Edward Durrell Stone. Just inside is the Museum’s major artifact, a one-of-a-kind, 14-by-19-foot tapestry designed by Marc Chagall (shown here). The Museum’s creative efforts in the Greater Milwaukee area began with the collection of artifacts and creation of exhibits, videos and other interactive features that make up the content of the Museum.
